Soft and supple, with blackberry, cherry and vanilla on the finish. A red blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 13% Petite Verdot.
This wine actually arrived in our store in early December. Without any type of promotion it quickly became one the best selling red blends last month. Mostly because almost everyone who bought it came back for more. I recently featured this in a blind tasting for one of our corporate clients that was making wine decision's for their annual convention. Every other red in the tasting was twice as expensive. The Murphy Goode came out on top and our customer could not have been more elated in the savings for their very large event.
Keep in mind this wine usually sells in the mid teens in retail stores ($24 at the winery) so our price is off the charts! In other words this qualifies as one of the great bargains of the year! Ok, I know only 5 days in but we have to start somewhere!
The vintage brought about dark aromas and flavors of blackberry and cherry paired with anise and a bit of thyme. The barrel aging softened the tannins and created a plush texture while adding notes of a sweet oak toast and nice hints of vanilla. The wine can be enjoyed now, but will age gracefully over the next 8-10 years.
