Acumen
2015 Napa Valley
MOUNTAINSIDE
Red Blend
$40 and up eleswhere!
Acumen has established an estate that features 116 organically certified acres of vines, spread across two remarkable vineyards on Napa Valley’s Atlas Peak. Because Acumen sells the majority of its grapes to a "who’s who" of top Napa Valley wineries, the winemaker is able to focus on his favorite small vineyard blocks to create Acumen’s wines. Echoing the charm and longevity of the great Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons of the ‘60s and ‘70s, which are revered for their harmony and structure, Acumen’s wines have quickly emerged as benchmarks for Atlas Peak, recognized for this vibrant purity and precision.
This wine is a bit of a throwback. Definitely not fruit-forward, big and inky, it has beautiful balance and texture. No third party endorsements here just our wholehearted belief that this is one very nice Red Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot.

Adega de Moncao
2018 Portugal
ESCOLHA
Vinho Verde
From Wine Spectator: Vinho Verde, or “green wine,” is a Portuguese white wine that’s meant to be consumed while still young, hence the name. It can be made from any combination of 25 different white wine grapes, the most popular being Alvarinho, Loureiro and Trajadura. Most Vinho Verdes are crisp and citrusy, and most are a bit effervescent because winemakers often add a dose of carbon dioxide right before bottling. Vinho Verdes are usually inexpensive and typically go great with seafood.
The above is the perfect summation of what Vinho Verde is all about. This is one of the best bottlings we have tasted all year! A classy expression of Vinho Verde that is medium-bodied with lime blossom, green peach, sea spray and steely minerality on the fresh finish. The absolute perfect hot weather wine! About as thirst quenching as a wine can get!

Heritance
2015 Napa Valley, Rutherford
TAUB FAMILY VINEYARDS
Cabernet Sauvignon
$38 Elsewhere
20% OFF HERE
This is a fantastic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon for under $30. Don't hesitate to throw this is your cart! Intense flavors of black currant, plum, roasted coffee and hints of vanilla spice.
The name Heritance is fittingly derived from a combination of ‘heritage’ and ‘inheritance,’ signifying the start of a new tradition and the continuation of an enduring legacy. The valley oak pictured on the label, a familiar sight in any Napa landscape, represents the Taub family’s deep wine industry roots in California and further reinforces the wines connection with its provenance. The diamond at the base of the tree symbolizes the seed that remains planted for future generations.

Cline
2017 Contra Costa County
ANCIENT VINES
Mourvedre
Wakefield understands the importance of protecting, preserving and enhancing the quality of the fruit from their vineyards. Aiming to achieve balance, elegance and finesse in every wine and somewhat uniquely when it comes to the style of the wines, often seeking to make wines that are at once both powerful and elegant. The Wakefield philosophy rests on the principle that the finest wines are those made with the greatest dedication and care. Above all is to ‘respect the fruit’.
This wine is generous and rounded at first with juicy, deep berry compote fruits then yielding to a tightly woven frame of firm yet generous tannins. There are alluring, coconut oak and fine dark chocolate characters, with a deep, soft center of ripe berry fruits. |

Bodegas Nieto Senetiner
2016 Mendoza, Argentina
BLEND COLLECTION
Red Blend
89 Wine Advocate
The history of Nieto Senetiner Winery dates back to 1888, when Italian immigrants founded it and grew the first vineyards in Vistalba, Lujan de Cuyo, province of Mendoza. Over the first decades of the last century, the winery was run by several families who succeeded in passing on the secret of fine winemaking and the love for their land.
In 1969 it is acquired by the families Nieto and Senetiner, who expand the facilities signalling the beginning of a new stage of growth.
A super delicious red blend from Argentina.
From Wine Advocate: The 2016 Blend Collection Malbec - Cabernet Franc - Petit Verdot is a blend of 55% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Franc and 15% Petit Verdot. With this wine, they are looking for a little more complexity, with the roundness of the Malbec and the spiciness of the Cabernet Franc. Forty percent of the wine matured in well-seasoned oak barrels for six months. It's still easy to drink but with some more nuance, with the varieties nicely integrated.

Herencia Altes
2018 Terra Alta
Garnatxa Blanca
One of the best value Garnacha Blanca's you will find in all of Spain! Made from a mix of old and young vines grown on sandy and chalky soils around the village of Batea, the Garnacha Blanca from Herencia Altes is fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness of this wine but with lees stirring to add a little extra weight.
Soft and silky with loads of flavor.
Nuria Altes, like many young vintners in Spain, comes from a family who have grown grapes for generations. Tucked away in a remote corner of Catalunya, Nuria’s new project, Herencia Altes is situated outside the village of Batea, in the DO of Terra Alta. |

Fleur du Cap
2016 Western Cape, South Africa
Pinotage
The Fleur du Cap approach is unconstrained. Using only meticulously selected grapes from the finest vineyards across the Cape Winelands, the winery produces a range of wines that offer diversity of choice and diversity of taste.
This wine has a deep red color with purplish edges. The nose shows ample red berry fruit with a sweetish fruitcake character, enhanced by a spicy oak finish. Full-bodied on the palate with ripe plum flavors, this robust red is supported by a good tannic backbone, which will soften with time. Incredible value!

Green & Red
2016 Napa Valley
CHILES CANYON VINEYARD
Zinfandel
92 Wine Spectator
This wine has only been in the store a few short weeks and it already is becoming one of our best selling Zinfandels. No wonder as it is one of the best Green & Red Chiles Valley's we have tasted in a number of year's. That is saying something as this winery has always taken great pride in its Zinfandel offerings.
From Wine Spectator: Sleek and elegantly complex, with expressive cherry, sweet anise and pepper flavors that glide on a long finish. Drink now through 2025.

McKinlay
2017 Willamette Valley
Pinot Noir
The McKinlay clan has a long history of farming in Oregon, dating to the early 1900's when George Angus McKinlay dry-farmed cherries, apples, prunes and nuts on his farm in the Eola Hills region of Oregon's Willamette Valley. The McKinlay's are friendly, humble, hard-working, low-key and welcoming; their wines are a direct reflection. The winery is truly in the cellar - their house sits above it.
Great value from Oregon! A very good, well-balanced Pinot Noir. Bright red fruits with modest acidity make this easy to enjoy!

Novelty Hill
2016 Columbia Valley
Merlot
Washington state Merlots are just a different breed than anything from California. In terms of value, California doesn't come close to producing the quality you can get from Washington, especially in the under $20 price point. If you have not given Washington State Merlot a shot recently than you are really missing out!
Fresh and expressive, with generous wild cherry, raspberry and mocha aromas and flavors that gain complexity across a richly textured mid-palate. Lush and supple, with a layered finish that lasts. |
