Description
Château Corbin 2016—a beautifully poised vintage from one of the oldest estates in the appellation. Bordering Pomerol, Corbin has long been admired for its finesse-driven Merlot and commitment to precision, and the 2016 vintage is no exception. Silky tannins, plush red fruit, and a whisper of spice glide across the palate in a wine that’s equal parts charm and structure. It’s drinking beautifully now but has the bones to age gracefully for years to come.
The critics and we agree this is a special wine! Offering this with 9 years of age underneath it at this price point is amazing!! Drinking spectacularly right now!
Check out these reviews:
From Wine Advocate (93pts): Blended of 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc aged in 50% new French oak for 18 months, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Corbin has quite a meaty nose with smoked meats and beef drippings over a core of black plum preserves with hints of bay leaves and garrigue. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and grainy with a great core of muscular fruit and an earthy finish..
From Jeb Dunnuck (93pts): From a 13-hectare vineyard located north and west of the village of Saint-Emilion, the 2016 Château Corbin (83% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc aged in 50% new oak) showed beautifully in all my tastings. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by a beautifully pure, elegant 2016 that gives up lots of limestone character in its red currants, graphite, dried flowers, and earthy aromas and flavors. This medium to full-bodied effort has solid mid-palate depth, a fine, elegant texture, ample structure, and a great finish. It's going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and cruise for 15+ years.
From Vinous (Neal Martin 93pts): The 2016 Corbin, matured in 50% new oak, has a ravishing bouquet of red plum, bergamot and touches of peppermint. The palate is medium bodied with quite firm tannin and good backbone. Not complex, but fresh and well balanced, leading to a lightly spiced finish. Perhaps the "insider’s choice" on the Right Bank?
