Matt Francke has been tasting, selling and enjoying wine for over 20 years. His expertise and keen wine knowledge is what makes him so successful. Matt is not at all pretentious and altough he references the wine critics scores and comments, he does not rely on others to help him select what wines to sell in his shop. Matt and his staff tastes each wine before deciding what to bring in for his store and always favoring the quality of the wine for the price, in other words, getting the best bang-for-your-buck! Friends for years have been asking Matt to put a mixed case together for them, allowing for them to try new varietals and wineries that they may not dare to try. This Case of the Quarter program is just that!

Matt's hand-selected Case of the Quarter will include 2 bottles each of:

CURRAN Grenache Blanc, Santa Ynez Valley: Kris Curran is the wine maker that put SEA SMOKE on the map. She has crafted a fantastic white that is not to be passed up.  This is easily my favorite white of the year to date. For under $20 they just don’t get more interesting and tasty than this. Kris Curran wines were started in 1997. Currently, Kris is producing Syrah, Sangiovese and Grenache Blanc; all of which are locally sourced from premium, selected vineyards in the eastern end of the Santa Ynez Valley.  $16.95

CALCAREOUS
2008 Tres Violet, GSM Blend: Calcareous is on fire with their current offerings! They produce another WINNER with this tasty red GSM blend (Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre). Calcareous has for over a decade now, produced a collection of world–class blends and varietal wines that exhibit Paso Robles’ claim to being “distinct, different”. If you find yourself in Paso Robles don’t pass up the opportunity to visit this beautiful winery. One of our favorites! $22.95

NIGL
2011 Gruner Veltliner, Kremrer Freiheit: A fantastic Gruner! Treat this like you would a crisp, mineral-driven Chablis. No one would deny this estate’s inclusion among the absolute elite in Austria, and many observers wonder if there’s anyone finer. Extraordinarily transparent, filigree, crystalline, mineral-drenched wines of mindboggling clarity. $16.95

ALVARO PALACIOS
2009 Priorat, Les Terrasses: "91-94" Wine Advocate, Lovely black fruit with minerals and exotic spices. Great depth and complexity with aging potential.  If anyone embodies the promise and spirit of “The New Spain,” it's Alvaro Palacios. His L’Ermita is widely considered along with Peter Sisseck’s Dominio de Pingus — to be the most important new Spanish wine of the modern era.  $31.95

PASCAL MARCHAND
2009 Rouge Bourgogne: What a value in Red Burgundy this is! TERRIFIC BALANCE AND COMPLEXITY.  A native of Montreal and an adventurer at heart, Pascal began his career in wine working the harvest at Chateau de Chorey-les-Beaune in Burgundy in 1983. He returned the following year and quickly established himself as one of the region's rising stars after being hired by the Domaine du Comte Armand in Pommard. $23.95

TENUTA DI BURCHINO 2007 Il Burchino Super Tuscan Blend: This awesome Super Tuscan blend is 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet & 5% Merlot. Dark cherries, berries and hints of oak on the attractive finish. The Burchino Estate is one of the ancient Estates owned by the Castellani Family. Located in Terricciola medieval village on the Pissan Hills, the Estate has one of the best soils in the area.  $19.95
