CaliPaso 2019 Tempranillo

The CaliPaso Tempranillo is our WOM!
The CaliPaso winery has once again produced an amazing value not to be missed! Their Zinfandel has been a staple in our store (the new vintage has not been released, stay tuned) for many years. Do not compare it to their Zinfandel that has an abundant amount of fruit. This is more nuanced with dried cherry notes, fig and a hint of tobacco.
This CaliPaso Tempranillo (sells for $40 at the winery) is another unbelievable value not to be missed! After opening, give this wine a good hour in a decanter to reveal its true character and complexity. This does not taste like a wine that sells for under $12! Maybe not the $40 they are asking at the winery but definitely somewhere in between.
The original vine cuttings came from the Ribera del Duero in Spain. Like Paso Robles, the weather in Ribera del Duero can be very warm to hot during the growing season. The vines have adapted well and as a result we have a delightful domestic Tempranillo.
